Gwendolyn G. Joseph, Ph.D. is a seasoned community college leader with extensive experiences in organizational transformation, leadership development, and employee engagement. Gwen served as an executive and an administrator in a variety of community college systems and structures. On retirement she started the second phase of her career by providing interim leadership to institutions experiencing a transition in leadership. In each interim position, Gwen provides leadership, strategic direction, financial management, and operational stability to institutions seeking new leadership.

Gwen integrates her knowledge and understanding of complex systems with Appreciative Inquiry to support the institution’s change management efforts. Gwen’s major foci include: assessing the college’s efficiency and effectiveness; designing and implementing processes to facilitate team building, cross-functional collaboration, open communications, and leadership development; developing internal and external consultative and collaborative relationships; and creating interactive learning environments to build a college’s capacity to focus on student success.

Prior to retirement and starting her subsequent career as an interim president/CEO, Gwen had a 30+ year community college career that focused on organizational development, workforce initiatives and career and technical education. Gwen’s portfolio includes change management, leadership and professional development, diversity and employee engagement, strategic planning, and human resources.

Gwen completed her doctorate in Educational Administration through the University of Texas’ Community College Leadership Program. Her leadership skills were further developed through participation in such programs as Leadership Kentucky, Harvard’s Institutes for Management and Leadership in Education, the National Institute for Leadership Development, and the Kellogg Foundation’s Expanding Leadership Diversity in Community Colleges.

Gwen is certified as an Appreciative Inquiry facilitator and in Prosci Inc.’s change management and advanced change management methodologies.
