About the Program
The AIPT Certification course will take you on an experiential, insight-oriented journey to heighten how you work with individuals, groups, organizations, and communities to examine possibilities and be the best that they can be.
You will experience an advanced community of practice where you can identify your personal strengths as an AI practitioner, enhance your contracting skills, and expand your capacity to design and lead AI initiatives that result in accelerated, sustainable change with measurable outcomes. You will be encouraged to share your experiences and participate in dialogues drawn from personal learning and experience.
Part 1 of the Appreciative Inquiry Practitioner Training© (AIPT) course will focus on enhancing your foundational Appreciative Inquiry skills. Your development journey will continue in Part 2. You will be able to strengthen your application skills by learning from Subject Matter Experts and guided group discussions.
We delve deeply into these segments throughout Phase 1 and Phase 2 of this advanced course.
As a fully engaged participant in the Appreciative Inquiry Practitioner Training© (AIPT), you will leave the workshop better able to:
- Master the ability to build relationships and create an environment of trust, respect, and collaboration with the organizations you serve.
- Be familiar with the elements of organizational culture and learn how unleashing the power of culture can facilitate success.
- Deepen your understanding and application of foundational Appreciative Inquiry processes and principles
- Build your understanding of a stakeholder engagement and enhance your ability to work with your clients to identify key organizational stakeholders
- Effectively apply Appreciative Inquiry tools to facilitate organizational transformation and participative change
- Develop your knowledge of organizational systems through systems thinking to assist your clients in reaching their goals
- Enhance your effectiveness by applying the insight gained from professionally oriented instruments and discussions which impact consulting success.

Successful completion of the Appreciative Inquiry Facilitator Training© (AIFT), in person or virtually, or equivalent course with the earned certification. The equivalent course must be reviewed in advance.
Facilitation of a minimum of four (4) AI engagements.
Commitment to complete all asynchronous work, attendance of synchronous sessions, mentoring sessions and community practice.
Successfully complete the online coursework, attend all live sessions, and participate in the Community Practice sessions, including the Orientation, which equates to 33 training hours.
Participate in three mentoring sessions as you work on your Final Project for certification.
Complete and submit the Final Project which is suitable for publication. This final report must demonstrate the participant’s deep understanding of the breadth, depth and application of Appreciative Inquiry work.
Complete the final evaluation.
Once certified, your Appreciative Inquiry Practitioner Certification lasts for 2 years and includes:
- A Certification document for your records;
- Use of the Center for Appreciative Inquiry Certification logo to embed on your website or include in your email signature;

Certification in AIPT© is also a pre-requisite for the Center of Appreciative Inquiry’s Certified Train-the-Trainer course.

Additional Training Information
Participants will receive login information to the Center for Appreciative Inquiry’s (CAI) online learning platform closer to the training date. We will open the online platform to participants three business days prior to the start of the training. This allows participants time to navigate the software and become acquainted with the various features and tools it offers, introduce themselves to their trainers and other vAIFT participants, and access all pre-workshop reading and materials.
