At the core of being an educator is a desire to help others learn and grow to become their best self. In the last ten years, there’s a growing body of literature providing evidence for the use of Appreciative Inquiry in post-secondary environments. Teaching and learning practices have changed over the years, and recent events demanding a shift to emergency remote delivery have amplified the need to adapt these practices. Appreciative Inquiry provides a framework to focus on strengths and previous successes in the learning environment to help students learn while they adapt to the new online environment.
Appreciative Inquiry is a perspective-changing process that has a personal and professional impact. It fits perfectly with our work in a complex human system and provides us with the tools to be change agents in our classrooms and institutions. At its core, Appreciative Inquiry is about building on strengths to enhance innovation and capacity in human systems.
This webinar will provide an overview of Appreciative Inquiry and its underlying philosophical constructs. It identifies evidence of its application in various educational contexts, and the research findings supporting the benefit of this approach. Participants will have the opportunity to explore how Appreciative Inquiry tools might be used in their respective teaching environments.
